Effects of spacing on the yield of marketable fruits of eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) type 'Oguanhwoa'. (188)
The effects of spacing on the yield of marketable fruits, plant height and spread of S. melongena were investigated for six planting distances. The two closer spacings of 90 x 60 and 75 X 60 cm significantly outyielded all other treatments in terms of number and weight of marketable fruits. The yield of unmarketable fruits increased sharply with the closest spacing. The widest spacing gave the lowest yields of both marketable and unmarketable fruits. Total yields increased from the first to the fourth harvest and declined thereafter.
