Control of banana black leaf streak disease in Western Samoa
P.G. Long
Benomyl applied in an oil-water emulsion gave better control of black leaf streak disease with more export quality fruit per bunch than either maneb or misting oil alone. Fruit taken from plants which had been sprayed with benomyl for leafspot control did not contain appreciable residues. A comparison of the severity of black leaf streak disease in Samoa with the severity of Sigatoka disease in Honduras was made using the incidence of potting and the youngest spotted leaf as standards. Seasonal variation in the severity of black leaf streak disease were correlated with the number of rain showers per week.
