Coffee grounds replacing sorghum grains in pig rations
Growth, finishing, palatability, and nitrogen retention studies to determine the usefulness of coffee grounds (from the manufacture of instant coffee) to replace grains in rations for pigs showed that as the percentage of coffee grounds increased, general performance of the pigs progressively decreased. Our data suggest that coffee grounds cannot be used efficiently at more than 10 per cent, as a grain replacement in pig rations. Coffee grounds in the diets did not affect carcass measurements significantly.
