Effect of brown leaf spot and Cercospora leaf blight on cassava productivity
The cassava lines which included different levels of resistance and susceptibility to the two diseases were planted in split-plot experiments in Colombia. They were observed under natural epidemics with half the plots being protected by spraying with benomyl. While the diseases had no significant effects on plant height or number of nodes per plant, they had significant adverse effects on fresh and dry matter root yields. Root sugar content and starch content were only lightly reduced in diseased plants.
