Studies on the economic importance of the blossom thrips, Frankliniella insularis (Thripidae, Thysanoptera) on pigeon pea, Cajanus cajan, in Trinidad
Data suggest that the flower thrips, F. insularis, could reduce the yield of pigeon pea, Cajanus cajan, cv. UW 17. Yield (pod-set) per plant differed by 47·25 per cent in thrips-free plants as compared with thrips-infested plants. Evidence also suggested the likely importance of cross-pollinators with a possible contribution of 42 per cent towards the final yield per plant.
