Potential of urease inhibitors in reducing ammonia losses in some tropical soils
The effectiveness of four urease inhibitors in reducing ammonia volatilization losses was investigated under laboratory conditions using tropical (semi-arid) Sudanese soils. Ammonia volatilization loss from urea-treated soils increased in the following order: p-benzoquinone ? phosphoric acid > catechol, while the losses were greater in the calcium hydroxide-treated soils than the control.
