Effect of cutting management and nitrogen fertilization on yield and quality of Pennisetum pedicellatum Trin. (Dinanath grass)
Forage quality in Pennisetum pedicellatum Trin. (Dinanath grass) imporbed significantly with increase in cutting frequency. The trend, however, was reversed for dry matter yield and dry matter content. A two-cut treatment produced maximum crude protein and digestible dry matter yields. N fermentation up to 120kg ha-1 for single-cut and 160kg ha-1 for two- and three-cuts was found to be significantly beneficial in forage yield and crude protein content. Significant increases in digestibility and crude protein yield were recorded up to 120 kg ha-1 N for all cutting systems.
