Intensive screening of some cowpea varieties for resistance to the black cowpea moth, Cydia ptychora (Meyrick) (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae)
In no-choice tests in screened cages, the wild cowpeas TVu 3709 and TVu 2994 manifested the highest levels of resistance to damage by the black cowpea moth, Cydia ptychora (Meyrick). Promising levels of resistance were also observed in the varieties EW/1 and Vita 5. Antixenosis with respect to feeding, antibiosis and tolerance were implicated in the resistance of these varieties.
