Influence of some factors on the survival of Rhizoctonia solani in soil
The sclerotia of Rhizoctonia solani remained viable for at least 21 months under moist conditions in a typical rice field soil at two controlled temperatures of 20 and 30 ± 2°C, but survival was adversely affected under dry soil conditions at 30 ± 2°C. Sclerotial viability was not affected by soil micro-organisms. The possible suppression of R. solani using sclerotia-inhabiting fungi is suggested.
