How the Humanities Opened the Window to the World
Author states that like most sixth formers he jumped from high school to university and in his case, to the Mona campus of The University of the West Indies (UWI) to read for a degree in the humanities. His time at The UWI was rewarding but while the academics brought intellectual growth, there was an entrepreneurial and co-curricular restlessness in him he had to satisfy. He taught Spanish at The UWI Extra Mural Department and engaged in other activities. Now the co-owner of a marketing company based in New York, he realises that every single experience at UWI, both the academic and the co-curricular, prepared and enabled him, and all who were at UWI with him, to take on global challenges in their professional lives. Pursuing areas within the humanities at UWI was an excellent springboard to take on all sorts of exciting challenges in the outside world.
