Author Guidelines
Tout Moun welcomes contributions in the form of original, unpublished, quality work.
Full manuscripts should be prepared in accordance with the most recent edition of the MLA Style Manual. All contributions should avoid racist or sexist language. The journal typically uses British spelling though U.S. spelling is also acceptable. Please use British or U.S. spellings consistently throughout the work. Caribbean Creoles are also acceptable provided they are accompanied by suitable glosses or translations. Please note that the word count for written submissions does not include notes or works cited.
Essays
Contributions should not exceed 8,000 words
Gayelle (short essays)
This section of the journal serves as a space of contestation, debate or polemics. Contributions should be in the range of 3,000 - 5,000 words.
Visual Essays
Individual images prepared as "RGB colour" or "grayscale/black and white" digital files in high quality JPEG format.
Book Reviews
Contributions should be in the range of 1,500 - 2,500 words. At the beginning of the review, please include the title of the book being reviewed as well as the book's publication information.
Fiction
Contributions of short stories should not exceed 5,000 words.
Poems are also accepted.
Formatting of written work
Contributions should be written in English, double-spaced with a legible font, preferably Times New Roman, at a 12 pt font size. Page numbers should be placed in the upper-right corner. All illustrations and tables should be labelled and captioned accurately. In the interests of the peer review process, only the title should appear at the beginning of the work. Authors are asked to put the following on a separate (cover) page:
- Title of Work
- Abstract of no more than 300 words
- Author Name(s) and Professional/Institutional Affiliations
- Brief Biography (no more than 80 words)

Publication Terms
Every manuscript/work that is submitted will be subject to academic peer review. All contributions will be edited for grammar, spelling, punctuation and comprehension. Authors will be consulted with regard to any substantial editing.
The Author affirms that s/he is(are) the sole author(s) of the Work being submitted and that the Work has not been previously published.
The Author(s) warrants that the Work contains no violation of any existing copyright or other third party right or material of an obscene, indecent, libellous or otherwise unlawful nature and that to the best of his/her knowledge this Work does not infringe on the rights of others.
The Author grants Tout Moun first publication rights to any submission accepted for publication. Authors are free to subsequently publish their articles or disseminate them as they deem fit, provided they acknowledge the first publication of such articles in Tout Moun.
The Author grants Tout Moun a permanent, worldwide, irrevocable, royalty-free license to copy, publish, or distribute the Work electronically in Tout Moun, and to archive the Work.
The editors do not assume responsibility for loss or corruption of submitted materials. Materials published in Tout Moun do not necessarily represent the views of the journal's editorial board, advisory board, staff, or the University of the West Indies.
