When Tropical Agriculture was first published in January 1924, Volume 1 No 1, the Editor stated: “It should display in broad yet exact terms understandable by all classes of readers what tropical agriculture really means, the latest discoveries of research, the many problems that await scientific solutions. It should in time become a connecting link between country and country by indicating one another’s progress or difficulties.” This year those words are 100 years old and are still relevant today.
This special 100th Anniversary issue comprises a paper by the editorial staff of Tropical Agriculture on the research from the Caribbean published in the journal over the 100 years from 1924 to 2024 and also include a brief look at the publishers of the journal in that time and the special issues that have been published. There are 12 invited papers looking at the history of Caribbean agricultural investigations over the last 100 years and an attempt to look into the future.
