Ethical Statement

Tropical Agriculture, the academic journal of the Faculty of Food and Agriculture, is produced in a unit that operates in compliance with the codes of ethics of The University of the West Indies.

All manuscripts received are evaluated regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, religion, ethnicity, political philosophy and location of authors.

All manuscripts received are treated as confidential documents. Access to full manuscripts is restricted to Tropical Agriculture staff who have responsibility to forward them to selected reviewers and potential reviewers for assessment. Information concerning manuscripts is not disclosed to anyone except the authors, reviewers and potential reviewers.

Tropical Agriculture adheres to strict quality assurance principles as outlined in its guidelines to authors and welcomes, accepts and gives due consideration to feed-back and queries from authors in response to publication decisions; thereafter, the decision of the Editorial Committee is final.

Tropical Agriculture operates as a non-profit unit of The University of the West Indies. Tropical Agriculture will never compromise academic quality for financial gain. Manuscripts of academic merit will never be refused publication in cases where the author is deemed to be unable to pay for publication of a manuscript in open access format. Accordingly, in keeping with its objective of unrestricted dissemination of research findings to support food and nutrition security in tropical regions, Tropical Agriculture will exercise the option to solicit funds from international funding agencies to cover publication fees in such cases.
