Abstract

A study was conducted at the College of Science for Women, University of Baghdad, Al-Jadriyah. The experiment was carried out after the field was planted with a hybrid variety of Curcubita pepo in order to study the population density of pests that infested the crop in open cultivation during the spring season 2021. The pests recorded were the whitefly Bemisia tabaci, the leaf miner Liriomyza sativae, and the cotton aphid Aphis gossypii. The highest density of whitefly nymphs was 28 nymphs/cm2 of leaf on April 26, while the highest density of leaf miners was five tunnels/leaf on April 19 and the highest density of cotton aphids was 23 nymphs/cm2 of leaf on March 5. Also observed were the parasitoid Oplus sp., which belongs to the Braconidae family, the parasitoid Bemisia tabaci and the predatory lion aphid, Chrysoperla carnea
