Constraints to monitoring farmers' response to extension

Abstract

Constraints to the use of beneficiary contact monitoring in providing management information on project progress for decision-making by managers of agricultural development projects, when changes in yield and production cannot be estimated with accuracy, are examined in this study. Practical constraints to beneficiary contact monitoring are examined and it is concluded that the type of extension recommendations selected for analysis significantly affects the feasibility and value of this approach to project monitoring.
