Twelve sorghum cultivars, improved or introduced for higher grain yields than traditional cultivars, were evaluated in Senegal for the level of infestation by Rhopalosiphum maidis Fitch and Eublemma gayneri Roths. The cultivars differed significantly in the degree of pest attack. Panicle compactness was generally responsible for high infestation of E. gayneri. The use of cv. 51-69 against R. maidis and cvs 50-7 3 and 58-1 against E. gayneri has been suggested in resistance breeding.
