Abstract
Field experiments to control fruit rot, or koleroga, of arecanut, caused by Phytophthora meadii, in plantations at Sirsi, Kamataka, India, included the covering of arecanut bunches with suitable covers and the spraying of chemicals. Good control of the disease with high field applicability was obtained when the arecanut bunches were covered with polythene (200 gauge) covers. Bordeaux mixture (1 %) spray did not give perfect control of the disease. Spraying with the systemic chemicals Aliette and metalaxyl had some curative effect on the rotted arecanuts.
