Influence of season of flush on root activity in citrus using 32P

S. Kurien, A.M. Goswami, D.L. Deb

In three stock-scion combinations of Citrus studied, the season of flushing did not exert any significant effect on root activity. The proportion of P in the leaves derived from applied fertilizer was significantly higher in the August flushing at all radial distances, depth individually and their various combinations. Although the flushing season did not induce any significant change in root activity in the stock-scion combinations, it significantly influenced the efficiency of roots in the absorption of P from a particular location, i.e. radial distance by depth combination.
