Abstract
Meristem tips were excised from terminal and axillary buds of young cocoa plants (2-4 weeks old) and cultured on media with 1 ?M zeatin and various concentrations of NAA and GA3. The subculturing of shoots in liquid medium was beneficial for nodal elongation and shoot growth. Gamma ray irradiation at low doses (1-4 Gy) helped to reduce callus formation. The roots were induced on half-strength MS medium with 10 ?M IBA, 0.1 ?M IAA and with reduced sucrose content (15 000 mg I-1)
