Abstract
A brief survey of conventional grafting practices on macadamias is given and shows that scions 1·25 cm or more in diameter and 18-month old rootstocks are normally used. A method of splice grafting is described in which very small rootstocks and scions are used and are kept in a fungicide laden environment in a sealed polyethylene bag. Eighty-five to 90 per cent success has been achieved. The grafted plants are transplanted in the field at a very young age with consequent reduction in costs in addition to an increased multiplication rate. Growth of these grafted trees after transplanting is excellent.
