Abstract
In glasshouse tests, a single foliar application of oxamyl (methyl-N', N'-dimethyl-N-[(methylcarbamoyl)oxy]-1-thiooxamimidate) at 600 p.p.m. was required to inhibit significantly the penetration of roots of tomato seedlings by Meloidogyne incognita. Lettuce seedlings, however required a single application of 2500p.p.m. to inhibit M. incognita penetration significantly 48h after transplanting, but only 600p.p.m. at 96 and 120h. With pigeon pea seedling, 2500p.p.m. inhibited penetration by Rotylenchulus reniformis. In a field test, three foliar applications of oxamyl at 1250p.p.m. following dipping in l250p.p.m. before transplanting, significantly reduced the number or M. incognita and Pratylenchus zeae recovered from tomato roots.
