Abstract

Recently, necrotic tissue was found in beans of cacao grown in North Sumatra, Indonesia. The disorder is described and possible causes are discussed. The symptoms and the pattern of occurrence suggest that mainly nutritional factors are involved. The results of foliar and bean analyses have been studied concern-ing a possible relationship between nutritional factors and the disorder.
