Abstract
Regression analysis of heights, fresh and dry weights of seedlings of some hybrid cocoa varieties showed varying degrees of association between any two of the three variates. On all varieties, the correlation between fresh and dry weight was significantly high (P < 0·001) and using the regression equations, dry weights of seedlings could be estimated accurately from fresh weights. The situation was less clear-cut in estimating plant weights from seedling heights. Progenies were analysed separately because the individual regression lines were not parallel as was confirmed by comparison with common regressions.
