Promotion of flowering in edible aroids by gibberellic acid

S. Alamu, C.R. McDavid

Foliar sprays of gibberellic acid (GA) at 250 and 100 p.p.m. promoted flowering in a number of edible aroids. The flower promoting effects of GA varied among the different types and was extremely marked in the dasheen (Colocasia esculenta). It is suggested that the differential response may be related to differences in endogenous gibberellin levels.
