Abstract

All dietary levels of leucaena (Leucaena leucocephala) tested induced a severe depression of growth in young chicks. However, chicks appeared to possess some ability to adapt to moderate dietary concentrations of leucaena. Classical and nitrogen-corrected metabolizable values of leucaena were calculated to be 2·74 and 2·83 MJ/kg dry matter respectively.
