Abstract

Five different types of glandular micro-hair, namely panicoid form chloris form balano and arundoform specific form and sporobolus form were present in the abaxial epidermis of the lamina in 11 different strains of citronella. The density of essential-oil producing micro-hairs of the leaf lamina showed differences among the 11 strains of citronella (strains HI1 and HI11) studied. Micro hair density also showed differences between the micro-hair types and citronella strains. All the strains except HI9 and HI11 has a higher density of panicoid form micro-hair than balanoform, arundoform and specific micro-hair densities and most of the chemical components of the essential oil of citronella
