Abstract

Incidence of insect pests in a pure stand of peanut crop and in different peanut-based cropping systems was studied. The incidence of pests was lower in peanut when it was grown with intercrops, particularly with pearl millet. lntercropping peanut with pearl millet at a ratio of 8:1 was optimum and economical as the land equivalent ratio was higher. This system also harbours more predators and parasitoids.
