Abstract

Twenty-one cowpea cultivars were evaluated in three different field trials during 1985 and 1986 for their resistance to Septoria vignicola Rao. Disease progress was monitored by recording lesions cm-2 and per cent leaf area affected. The area under disease progress curve (AUDPC) values were calculated from the disease progress curves. Cultivars C 152, HG 171, RC 48, and V16 were consistently resistant as indicated by their lower lesion density and AUDPC values.
