Abstract
Ash from the rachis of plantain (Musa sp.) inflorescences was evaluated for its fungitoxicity against Sclerotium rolfsii, Botryodiplodia theobromae, Penicillium oxalicum, and Trichoderma longibrachyatum. The growth and spore germination of all four fungi were completely inhibited at 0.1 g mL- 1 concentration. The ash also reduced rot of yam minisetts and cassava ministems at 0.05, 0.1, and 0.15 g mL-1 concentrations.
