Abstract

Significant differences for nitrogen utilization efficiency (NE) for leaf and root alkaloid yields were found among three diploid and four autotetraploid strains of Catharanthus roseus grown at two levels of nitrogen. One strain at low N and none at high N exhibited high NE ratios for yields of both alkaloids.
