Abstract

In two separate experiments the effects of five levels of sugar-cane molasses (SCM), as a source of energy, on the performance of growing cattle were studied. Molasses had no significant effect on the daily live-weight gains nor was dry matter digestibility significantly affected in the two experiments. Carcass measurements were obtained for steers in the second experiment. The killing-out percentage and the rib eye area were not significantly affected by the different levels of molasses.
