Production of an edible oil from tea seed
Abstract
Commercial cultivars of the beverage tea plant grown in redundant seed stock orchards yielded over 4 t ha-1 of seed in the peak year of the biennial bearing cycle. Oil production was estimated as ? 0.8 t ha-1. A good quality oil was extracted with properties similar to those of accepted edible oils.
