Spoilage of fresh sugar-cane stored in heaps; the effects of length of storage

Abstract


The effects of length of time of storage on the spoilage of heaps of whole sugar-cane are reported with respect to changes in DM (dry matter), NDF (neutral detergent fibre), refractometer brix and pH. Changes in NDF appear to give the best indication of cane spoilage.
