Abstract
The presence in Guyana of the B strain of the bacterial pathogen Pseudomonas solanacearum E.F. Smith causing 'moko' disease on plantain (Musa Group AAB) and banana (Musa Group AAA) is reported here for the first time. The mechanically transmitted B strain has been found to be widespread on plantain and banana in Guyana; the insect-transmitted SFR strain of the pathogen is found exclusively on the island of Wakenaam.
