Abstract

Three fungicides were field-tested against anthracnose disease in water yam grown during the 1979 and 1980 seasons in Nigeria. It was found that four fortnightly sprays of benomyl or difolatan at 2250 and 3600 g ha-1 a.i. controlled the leaf blight phase of yam anthracnose by 75% and 66%, respectively. The severity of vine dieback significantly decreased. The reduction in leaf infection and dieback by benomyl and difolatan increased yields over the untreated plants.
