Abstract
An in vitro investigation on antagonism between three selected soil fungi and the root nodule bacterium of the peanut plant was conducted using modified Leonard's bottle jar assemblies. Marked stimulatory effect on nodulation and growth of peanut plants was noticed in jars treated jointly with Rhizobium and Penicillium notatum. In jars treated with Rhizobium and Trichoderma viride or Drechslera sativa the plants showed significant reductions in the number of nodules and wet and dry weight of nodules over plants in control jars inoculated with Rhizobium alone.
