Abstract
43 varieties of cowpea, Vigna unguiculata subsp. unguiculata (L.) Walp., were screened for resistance to the black cowpea moth, Cydia ptychora (Meyrick), in various replicated field trials at Ile-Ife, Nigeria. The varieties EW/1, ER-7, BPL-3-1, TVx 3236 O/G, TVu 2994 and TVu 3709 were found to show promising levels of resistance to the pest.
