Abstract

In Ivory Coast, a mechanically transmissible virus, with isometric particles 30 nm in diameter, was isolated from cowpea (Vigna unguiculata) that showed stunt and severe mosaic. This Paper describes the characterization of the virus as an isolate of cowpea mottle virus, previously known only from Nigeria, and reports a new chrysomelid beetle vector, Monolepta tenuicornis Jacoby.
