Abstract
Field experiments were conducted during 1981-2 to 1983-4 on an alluvial (Ustochrept) soil of Jalandhar to determine fertilizer P and K equivalents of some green manures (GMs) for potato tuber production. The GMs increased the level of yields significantly. The fertilizer P and K equivalents, based on a fixed yield concept, were higher than those based on optimum yield concept. According to the fixed yield concept, GMs of Crotalaria and Sesbania were equivalent to 65 and 27 kg P ha-1 of fertilizer, respectively; and GMs of Crotalaria, Sesbania, pearl millet and green gram were equivalent to 158, 176, 54 and 89 kg Kha-1 of fertilizer, respectively.
