Effect of liming on maize production and erosion on an acid soil in SW Ghana
Abstract
Studies carried out on an Oxisol in the south-west of Ghana using erosion plots showed that liming at rates up to 4 t ha-1 consistently increased the yield of maize. The studies also showed that liming consistently reduced soil and water losses on the acid soil; this is discussed with reference to prolific root development and loose soil structure likely to be associated with liming acid soils.
