Abstract

25 finger millet [Eleusine coracana (L.) Gaertn.] cultivars were assessed for their resistance to blast under field conditions during 1986-1988. In two field evaluations, the incidence and severity of leaf, neck and finger blast, and lesion size were recorded. None of the cultivars was resistant to leaf blast but HPB IE 11-1 had small-sized lesions. When scored for neck and finger blast, IE 1012 was completely immune to infection, and cultivars HPB IE 11-1, Indaf 15, MR 1, MR 2 and MR 3 had less than 5% infection. There was poor correlation between leaf and neck (r = 0.04) and leaf and finger (r = 0.27) infection.
