Abstract
Cotton cultivar B-557 (Gossypium hirsutum L.) was sprayed with thidiazuron (125 g a.i. and 250 g a.i. ha-1) when it had approximately 60% open bolls. The spray significantly increased seed cotton yield compared with untreated plants. It showed no deleterious effects on boll components and fibre quality. There were no significant differences between the two thidiazuron levels. An application of 125 g a.i. ha-1 seemed suitable for defoliation purposes.
