Abstract
Improvements in telecommunications technology in recent years allow quick distribution of information. This paper explores the problems and benefits of using electronic mail, electronic mailing lists, home pages on the Internet, fascimile, and other means for rapid dissemination of tropical root information and international information exchange by the International Society for Tropical Root Crops (ISTRC). Reference is made to the use of this technology by the Japanese Society of Root and Tuber Crops and other groups. An ISTRC web site has been created for member use at: http://www.tiu.ac.jp/~bduell/ISTRC/.
