Abstract
A field experiment was conducted from April to September 2005, at the Vegetable Evaluation and Research Station, Anse Boileau, Mahe, Seychelles, to assess the effects of different levels of decomposed poultry manure to determine the optimal rate that would maximize cabbage yield under Seychelles conditions. The experiment consisted of six treatments, viz., an untreated control and five levels of decomposed poultry manure (DPM) at 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 t ha-1. It was replicated three times in a randomized complete block design. Results of the study showed that all DPM treatments significantly improved total plant weights, but only with 20 and 30 t ha-1 were head weights significantly improved, compared to the 0 t ha-1 DPM treatment.
