Abstract
The UWI St. Augustine Law Journal (UWISALJ) has quickly become an internationally recognised publication for academic critique. This Editorial Committee received the largest number of submissions from regional and international academics, attorneys-at-law and judicial officers, in response to the third Call for Papers. This is why this Volume has more articles than in previous Volumes. The selected works touch on areas including corporate commercial law, family procedure, cryptocurrency, constitutional law and human rights. We, at the UWISALJ, would like to sincerely express our gratitude to all authors for their submissions and we look forward to future manuscripts in subsequent Calls.
As one may well understand, as submissions increase, so too does the work of selecting, editing and proof-reading increase. It is in this vein that recognition for the team responsible for this Volume must be made. The UWISALJ is a product of hard work and dedication by a team of invaluable research assistants, lawyers, academics and judges. Each Volume takes approximately ten months to produce. It is because of the dedication of the Editorial Committee, reviewers and the Sub-Committee that we have been able to maintain our deadlines, standards and academic integrity.
The UWISALJ has been consistently supported by the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Dr. Alicia Elias-Roberts. I would like to thank her for the opportunities which she has provided for the journal to exist in spaces beyond the traditional annual Call for Papers. This will materialise into a Special Volume later this year that marks twenty years of the Caribbean Court of Justice. Having a journal to serve as a repository of legal commentary, critical writings and guidance on practice and procedure is essential for regional legal development. The UWISALJ serves this purpose and it is hoped that, as years pass, the UWISALJ can be used as resource material for not only regional academics, practitioners and judges but also international audiences.
Within the last twelve months, the UWISALJ has also established a modern system for submission of manuscripts and special mention must be made of Mr. Khemchandra Persadsingh and Ms. Kara John for their leading roles in the adaptation of the system to suit our needs. In future Calls for Papers, the new online system will be utilised for submitting, tracking progress and confirming final proofs. This significant achievement for the journal will enhance the user experience and overall efficiency.
I hope that readers can see the hard work that has gone into this Volume. It has truly become a labour of love.
