Abstract

This paper explores the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in higher education, particularly in advancing Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 – “Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all” within the Caribbean context. It examines how AI can redefine educational methodologies and skill sets, thereby making quality education more inclusive, equitable, and tailored to individual needs. This study advocates for an AI-enhanced curriculum that emphasises AI literacy, critical thinking, interdisciplinary learning, and a robust ethical framework for technology use. Such an educational paradigm is crucial for empowering students to navigate and influence an increasingly AI-driven world, ensuring that they are well-equipped for personal and regional development. This paper specifically explores the strategic implementation of AI technologies in Caribbean universities to personalise the learning experience, thereby addressing the accessibility and adaptability challenges in education. This personalised approach is seen as a key driver in promoting SDG 4 by making quality education accessible to all, regardless of socioeconomic background or personal circumstances.
