Abstract

The world needs an effective, functioning G20. The body was elevated to leaders' level in order to steer the apparatus of global governance through times of great uncertainty from 2008 onwards. Its record is not without achievement, but remains disappointing overall. The G20 needs substantial institutional reform to become what we all now need it to be.
