Abstract
Information technology has significantly transformed libraries worldwide, changing their mode of operations and services. The Caribbean is no different, however, the literature is scarce on the use of information technology in libraries in the region. This article reviewed the current state of ICT in libraries across the Caribbean, with emphasis on academic, public and national libraries. Together, these are the largest spectrum of libraries in the Caribbean, functioning at the regional, national and private level respectively. Having explored ICT based services and resources in the respective Libraries, the article evaluates their effectiveness in meeting the needs of their stakeholders. The perception of professional and non-professional staff within the Libraries towards ICT, their skill sets and attitudes are also be explored. Finally, recommendations for the way forward are presented as libraries are encouraged to keep abreast of trends and the evolving technology.
