Abstract
The constant debate over calypso and race that has sprung up over the last two years has served to pit calypsonian against calypsonian, and Indian against African, which could be the exact intention of the modern day censors. The author does not speak for other calypsonians, since he says that they are all quite capable of defending themselves, but states that having been tagged racist by some East Indian writers he must respond.
