Abstract

This paper looks at the occurrences of natural disasters in the Caribbean and examines the institutional arrangements and the inter-organisational networks for disaster management in Jamaica and the Caribbean Community and why it is important for the CSME to include these arrangements in its development plans. It highlights some of the challenges that environmental conditions, mainly natural disasters, pose to the viability of the CSME. It also challenges the natural disasters pose of the CSME and offers recommendations.
